The Farm on Kenyon Road is a sustainable family farm that grows all-natural, chemical-free foods. Created to promote the vitality of small-scale family farming and community, its farm market features fresh, high-quality food grown locally. The farm is the creation of a young Knox County farm couple that saw the opportunity to provide local foods in the immediate area by working with neighboring Amish farmers. A student intern has worked with the project from its inception on food production, sales, and marketing. Plans for the operation include a storage and distribution center to provide products to local restaurants and other retailers, as well as a commercial kitchen to enable area farmers to produce value-added products for the regional market. The farm on Kenyon Road offers a valuable model of how young farmers can develop innovative agricultural operations to address the needs of a local food system.
